The relationship between body and mind is so deeply related that it can be considered as an integrated “psycho-biological” unit. When there is a change in the state of one component it will automatically be reflected in the other. In the process of engaging with Craniosacral Biodynamics and Deep Tissue Massage the body/mind condition will undergo significant and often profound changes. With these shifts it is inevitable that mental conditioning will also come to the forefront and present itself for processing. It is crucial that the practitioner has the skills to recognize and facilitate this flow of energy. When the important aspect of mental completion is overlooked or ineffectively attended to, there is a likelihood that the conditioned pattern will re-establish itself as an unconscious force. The opportunity for total transformation of unresolved experience into the free energy of vitality can slip away. The potential for an evolutionary deepening into self and the relationship with the world falls back into a self defeating pattern of seeking temporary relief from the same old familiar problems again and again.

As information concerning the “history” of past experience emerges it is observed within a wider field of awareness. The conditioned and therefore limited experience of the practitioner is “set aside” as a greater state of mindfulness is nurtured into being. It is a therapeutic state which manifests with an orientation to listening and a deep appreciation for the sacred space in which the healing process takes place. Present moment experience comes to the forefront and this allows for the intimacy of connection to deepen. The non-ordinary experience of inviting vulnerability and trust creates a milieu in which core life issues are prepared to safely emerge. This allows the origin of unconscious experience to enter into the light of awareness and thus dissipate from somatic, emotional and mental entrapments.

It is not overly critical as to what has happened in the past, but much more so to understand the nature of our relationship with the experience of it in the present. If we are unable to cope with overwhelming experience and it is left unresolved, it will be systematically held and contained as a function of health. This is expressed as energetic vortexes where the mind is trapped and stuck in old tapes that repetitively play out the unconscious material over and over to manifest as dis-ease. In extreme cases this can persist into a condition of complete mental stasis and dissociation. The potentially free flowing life energy or potency is bound up thereby creating the vortex of an inertial fulcrum. This is how health intelligently organizes to minimize the destabilizing influence of the unresolved experience manifesting as a disturbance.

In this work we are coming into an appreciation that fosters an understanding of the subtler intricate dynamics of health. We learn the role of presence in moment to moment experience for the skillful resolution of internal and external conflicts. There is a realization that within the disturbance at the very heart of the vortex, centered in stillness, resides the potency of health. Rather than avoiding the problem one learns to regulate the nervous system by accessing this stillness to potentiate and deepen the connection to self and life situations. The balance and harmony of optimum health is restored, within the present condition, regardless of circumstance. Even in death it is possible to meet this challenging experience in a friendly and conscious way, with vitality and clarity of being. This is the true nature and fullness of health in action.
